Why doesn’t ctrl+tab work similarly to alt+tab?

I use Linux (mint) and Mozilla Firefox. I wonder why ctrl+tab in Firefox doesn't work similarly to alt+tab in Linux. If I press alt+tab then I get nice graphic icons of every app and when I release the buttons it selects. I think that this functionality is also suitable for ctrl+tab in Firefox but ctrl+tab doesn't work that way. Why not?
