What’s the best icon to show this is the tab you are currently on?

I am revamping a form at the moment which is quite complex and spread across different pages/tabs. Once the user has completed a tab (ie filled in all mandatory questions) they get a green 'tick' icon. If they haven't completed all the mandatory questions, they get an orange cross. The one I am struggling with is the one for 'you are here'. Currently, the background colour of the tab changes to red, and they get a 'pencil' icon to suggest this page is being edited. I'm not sure this works though.

The screenshot shows the 'current' page at the top with the white pencil icon, and the completed 'tick' icon on the tab below:

Can anyone suggest a better type of icon to use in this context?
