What’s the adoption rate for Augmented reality for consumer app?

I would like to use the AR for an app to enhance the exhibit experience. The idea is to pop-up some 3d object near the physical item. The activation should be done by markers next to the items. But I am wondering how much is the adoption rate for this kind of technology
