What could explain that so many streamers on Twitch in the "ASMR" category are not doing ASMR? [closed]
I have created a script which, upon me pressing WinKey + A
on my keyboard, connects to the Twitch API, fetches all current streamers in the "ASMR" category, ignoring those I have set to ignore, and picks one at random to open in VLC.
This, in theory, was a great way for me to always be able to quickly get relaxing ASMR to keep on in the background while working.
In reality, it turns out that a disturbing number of streamers in this category, almost every single one, are not doing ASMR at all. Instead, they are talking loudly, playing obnoxious non-relaxing music, play video games, and do just about anything but ASMR. So I have to keep blocking nearly all of them, one after another, to never include them again. I'm often left with basically not one single actual ASMR live stream.
What could explain this? For "Travel & Outdoors" and "Just Chatting", it can be explained by the fact that these seem to be default-picked categories for mobile and stationary streamers, and they just don't bother to change it, or even understand that they can change the category.
But "ASMR" must be actively picked, as far as I can tell. It isn't automatically assigned. And yet, there are so many non-ASMRtists on there. Why? They seem oblivious to this rather than maliciously trying to ruin the category.
