Want to dive into UI design but no idea where to start [on hold]

I want to learn UI designing (for example UI of chrome vs Firefox) and even googling for UI design learning doesn't help much. I mean they fill down with theory and what is UI but not able to get a feel for it? can someone help me? Resources links would be of huge help.
