Using Chat bubbles versus right aligned paragraph texts on messaging apps

Professional messaging apps like slack and discord use list view for messages which does not allow us to differentiate between our messages and that of others. Whereas messengers like WhatsApp and telegram use chat bubbles. What might be the reasons behind this? Correct me if I'm wrong but I feel one of the reasons they do this is because slack is used mainly for official purposes and might include long messages and it could lead to a lot of scrolling in a mobile phone as chat bubbles aren't spread to full width. What are your thoughts on this?
