User friendly or not? [on hold]

My first introduction to Word was in 1995 when I was hired by Nortel Networks, so I am a vanishing breed of dinosaurs dating to from before some of today's users were even born. Word was at the time fairly simple to learn and use. And I was able to adapt to several subsequent versions of the app.

But then something happened. I was an infrequent user after leaving the company, and when I downloaded the latest version it was near unrecognizable to me. The placement of the drop-down menus had changed along with the content of those same drop-down menus -- the entire 'look and feel' (as usability experts use the term) had changed dramatically.

Today I can use the app for mundane things, BUT I often have to Google questions that SHOULD have obvious answers (because you know, the usability experts have made it sooo user friendly, and of course they've done the requisite testing -- NOT!)

Please someone at Microsoft, hire Jacob Nielsen, the guru for all things concerned with UX!
