Table filtering UX – Autofilter vs. Click to confirm? [duplicate]

I'm currently designing table filtering controls and wanted to know what the thoughts are on autofiltering (filters apply as you select) vs. having a user click an apply button to show the results (or clear to cancel)? Out of the gate, I believe the autofilter will be easier for the user, however I'm not sure if others have run into this scenario and found one type to be better than the other for the user experience.
