Symbolize numerical values with LEDs

I'm developing an electronic product.

I have to indicate a value between 200 and 400 with a resolution of 10.

Because of mechanical and cost restrictions I would prefer to use up to 8-10 LEDs to indicate the value instead of an classical display.

Each LED can be varied in brightness and color.

What would be an intuitive way do display this information?
