Should I keep menu accordions open when focus moves elsewhere?

In the menu shown, it's possible to open another menu section (other than the active subsection) without actually selecting and navigating to a new page.

If the user then selects a page in the second subsection, the active page marker will move to that page, and the first subsection will remain open.

Is this an acceptable design?
