Should a user know at all times his filtering preferences?

I'm currently developing an app which shows you ads near you. In order to make sure an user gets what he is looking for he can filter his ads. Should an user see those filter preferences at all time, while he is seeing the ads?

I would like any kind of critique.

Underlying gradient show each ads category. Top left button is user and top right is going to be chats. Once you click on the '+' button on an ad you can chat with whoever posted it.
