Number keyboard UX

Hello Folks

I just wanted to understand the research result, that why is the number key board consist of alphabet which is not used. Why is this change needed. Number key board should have only numbers right? According to Nielsen Norman UX principles, the thing which is not used or could not find is equivalent to not having it.
