Next Step in my UX Design Career?
Hello fellow UX professionals,
I have been working as a UX Designer (sometimes in more design research roles, sometimes more in UI roles, sometimes more as a graphic designer) for about 4 years now. I got my master's degree in UX Design back in 2016.
In the past couple of years I have also been learning programming languages such as JavaScript and basic python to work more hands on with developers when developing front-end.
Considering some opinions in our industry that says "UX Designer" will be obsolete in the future, and that the term itself is becoming too broad for current industry; I am trying to understand what different specialization roles/streams I should start thinking about as I continue to work in UX-related fields.
Are there unexpected transitions I could make from being a UX Designer into something else? I am aware that there are VR, Wearables, Textual, ect. that is changing traditional web/mobile user experience, but I would like to hear some personal anecdotes from other designers who were able to transition into more specialized fields.
Thanks in advance!
