MacOS vs IOS HIG – Borders

I was checking both IOS and MAC OS HIG, and it looks like IOS tends to use more borders on a list, while MAC OS not, is there a reason for that? Considering that IOS had more spacing to separate the lists and you also have hover or maybe this is a misunderstanding?
