Latency effects between different regions

There is a related question here. It talks about the effects of latency on user engagement. I am wondering if anybody here knows of similar research done for different regions around the world? I would also love to see region specific ones.

This comes as I have seen extensive research on the effects of bandwidth on video engagement. I am currently trying to establish KPIs for our website and region seems to have an impact so I was hoping to find some research on the topic, without much luck so far.
