Is a spreadsheet an engaging way to display data?
I am designing an app to collect medical data. Some colleagues and I plan on discussing the data together and I would like to have it in a format that makes it easy to grasp.
In particular, when we perform exercises on a patient, we uses a set of evaluation criteria to determine whether the patient has improved post-exercise. We call these metrics.
Currently, the best way I know to display the data is as follows:
However, I am concerned about the number of metrics that will have to be displayed here. This table looks really ugly to navigate and I am trying to imagine doing this on an android tablet the size of a Nexus 9. Realistically, there could be at least 20 criteria we use. Obviously, a large number of these may be cut off or the data could be too densely presented, so I feel like a spreadsheet layout is sort of ugly. However, I can't think of a better way of displaying the data at the moment.
Is a table the most efficient way to present this information? Or is there a more UX friendly way to display it such that my colleagues and I can see it better.
