Icon for mandatory/required selection [on hold]

What is the most suitable icon for something that have to be selected? I am not talking about an input field that have to be filled out, so the * is out of question :)

I have been doing some research, and all I can find is icons like this:

Which, to me, does not say mandatory selection. What do you guys think?
