How valuable is a UX Design Lead role?

I have a UX career planning question and would value other people's opinions.

Currently, I am in a Senior UX position at a very large company but was offered a UX Design Lead role at a smaller firm. My career goal for myself is to progress into more and more leadership.

Would you view a Lead role as a valuable career progression from a Senior role or no? Why or why not?
