How to visually differentiate between different kind of information?

The website we are building has pages with different kinds of information visible on them at once (see the picture for an example). Just having the different "blocks" of content right next to eachother like this is harder to understand, though, and it's not very pleasing to look at. How can we differentiate between these blocks of content visually?
