How do I make people willing to talk?

I'm designing a new app on career advice. In the first stage of the design process, I plan to talk with people and discover their struggles in career development, and how they usually handle it. I sent cold call messages to people in my LinkedIn network, but few responded. How can I make people willing to share with me their experiences and opinions? Thanks.
