How do I make a sidebar with clickable file names flow with the rest of my Bootstrap UI?

I am developing a site in Bootstrap and I am trying to design a page that involves a canvas with draggable icons and a files menu on the left side that controls what canvas is displayed. I'm struggling to find a way to list the files so that they are connected to the canvas.
