Does adjusting a grid heavily from page to page make my design lacklustre?

I am most definitely overthinking this (I might not be) but we always hear how "consistency is important". Looking back now, that statement refuses anything exciting. Mundane and every day seldom guarantee success.

I have a 'Work' page, which underlines key projects and a 'Blog' page, which shows blog posts.

The problem is that both these pages use a very different grid. One has much whitespace; the other does too but it is in a different direction.

Is my design bad, therefore I wonder? As a websites grid makes for its heart, does adjusting this majorly from page to page make my design lacklustre?
