Should a Site Map List Actions / Functions?
During the early stages of the web or app design process, should a site map include listing functions or actions a user can take once landed on a particular page? Let’s say you have a site map indicating a blog page…should the site map list the actions a user can take on a blog post like commenting, liking, rating, linking, forwarding etc?
If not, then in what UX document should site or app functions be listed?
Improving button state by only changing colours

In short, the above ‘Object list’ increases in content when the different buttons at the top (A, B, C, D & E) are selected. These buttons look like tabs, but since several can be selected simultaneously (addi…
Good example of submitting location
I’m looking for some smooth UX experiences which encompass submitting of locations. Ideally something using address/zip to initially place pin, but then allowing adjustments to placement.
Thanks in advance,
What is the expected UX behaviour when you delete your account from a service?
The “Delete account” option in our product is really just a unsubscribe from the service option – the user is still able to login to the system but no longer has access to the actual service.
My question is: What should happ…
Term specificity in front-end use
I am designing an application where users can assemble collections of documents that will then be processed in some way (how and for what purpose these sets are processed is not relevant to this question).

Should tooltips be used on Text/Links?
Should we use tooltips on text/links? I see many frameworks like Foundation support tooltips on text but I don’t know the reason why? I assumed text is self explanatory but I believe Foundation must have a good reason to have…
Is it better to show common latin characters than language specific characters?
Just got the results of a very quick test we did for a multilingual app (test performed on people from US and Canada), and to my surprise I found that the word Espanol
worked better than Español
. This reminded me of a time when we had a lot of problems with people reading the german character ß
as the letter B
so it had to be replaced by SS
to be understood.
In the specific case of Español, it’s worth mentioning that changing the way it’s written changes how it’s pronounced. In order to accurately write the word as it should sound, it should be Espaniol
or Espanyol
rather than just Espanol
. So, using Espanol
effectively changes the way it’s pronounced for people who speaks Spanish
So I’d like to know if there’s any kind of study demonstrating it’s better to use international characters even to the cost of lesser understanding by people who speaks the language, or if it’s better to stick to the language the way it’s supposed to be, no matter how people who doesn’t speak the language reads it (just in case, I’m inclined to the latter, but data shows me I might be wrong)
Is there a word for an action that really needs an affordance and doesn’t have one?
This is kind of a conceptual thing I have wondered from time to time. What I am trying to describe is when a user can provide some sort of input to software that will result in some action being taken, but that ability is not…
