Are there any guidelines on how to deliver articles on smart TVs?

So my company is planning to build a news app for smart TVs. The problem is the contents that will be provided by the app are written articles, not videos.

So basically they are trying to make people read news on a smartTV, which honestly, for me is a stupid idea. I can't imagine the audience will scroll through that 3000 characters (or more) article.

My questions are :

  1. If I am wrong, that nothing is stupid about this idea, are there any guidelines that I can read on how to deliver articles on smart TVs so it will have good UX for people that actually going to read them.

  2. If I am right, how can I convince them that this whole idea is useless? Are there any UX studies that can help me convince them? Since doing research is something that my company won't do.
